We are very lucky to live in Australia, which is ranking one of the top places to photograph the Milky Way, due to low population density and it’s rural outback. As Earth travels and rotates around the Sun, sometimes of the year the Milky Way is better to witness than others. Also called the galactic core.
- In the Northern Hemisphere, the core is visible from March to October, with prime viewing times from late April till late July.
- In the Southern Hemisphere, you’re at an advantage as you can see the core from February till October, with the prime time being June and July.
In our astrophotography workshops, we are focusing on the Milky Way and its Galactic core also we are focusing on shooting star-trails when the sky is cloudless throughout the night.
